Rawalpindi : All students of Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori & High School, Gulraiz Montessori Branch, participated in a fun sports day, says a press release.
Junior and Senior Montessori students of SLS Montessori & High School, Gulraiz Montessori Branch enthusiastically celebrated a fun filled sports day as they took part in several theme based races. From sun flower race to unicorn race, treasure hunt of the sea shells and a sac race there was something for every student to participate in. The school ground was filled with a cheerful crowd of parents, grandparents and siblings of the participants.
The sports day started off with a torch lighting ceremony when two students enthusiastically lit the torch. Following the torch lighting ceremony a group of cheerleaders in colorful costumes holding pompoms took over the ground and performed on a poem. The school ground was filled with applause and appreciation for the adorable performers. A synchronized PT performance had everyone in awe as the students made different formations while marching on the beat of the drums. The students also did a march pass across the school ground waving at the audience as they showed off their perfect little costumes.
The series of races started off with the Junior Montessori classes. Dressed up in their colorful theme based attires the participants took their positions as the waited for the whistle. From farmer race to the bee race and an adorable clown and unicorn race the students of Junior Montessori took over the school ground. Everybody enjoyed and appreciated the participants. An intense winning moment was witnessed by the audience when some of the students dressed up as clowns tried to eat bananas to win the race. The highlight of all the Junior Montessori races was the ‘hop and complete the puzzle’ race. The enthusiasm of the young participants surprised the audience as they anxiously waited for the result.
The Senior Montessori races were no less. One could see the students dressed up as ghosts and witches for the sac race, some as jelly fish and other sea creatures to take part in their respective races. The participants were seen to be holding spoons in their mouths for the ping pong race as they carefully waited for the whistle. The school ground was filled with hooting and whistles for the little ghosts as they entered the ground for the sac race. The highlight of the Senior Montessori races was the moment when a tie was witnessed twice during the treasure hunt race, eventually both the participants were declared as the winners.

Over three hundred parents were invited as guests who visited and appreciated all the beautifully decorated classrooms. All the Junior, Senior and Advanced Montessori classes had different themes selected from the Theme book of the Montessori classes. Introductions about each theme were given by the students followed by short descriptions of the activities performed by them during their academic year. The Junior Montessori classes displayed the themes of ‘Spring Season’, ‘Shapes around Us’ and ‘Plants’. From dancing butterflies to singing fruits, miniature gardens to green house and a bunch of students dressed up as different shapes to little scientists at the science corners each classroom had a sight to behold.
The Senior Montessori students were no less; they won the hearts of all the guests with their amazing theme presentations. Two students dressed up as taxi drivers gave a tour to their “Cars, Trucks and Buses” themed classroom. The information shared by the students regarding the parts of different vehicles and their types had everyone in awe. Moving through the corridors of the Montessori Section the guests also witnessed a “Farm Animals” and “Fruits and Vegetables” themed classroom. The students could be seen dressed up as different farm animals trying to imitate sounds produced by the farm animals. Fruits and vegetable garden based classroom had its own charm.
The “Dairy Products” and “Yellow” themed Advance Montessori classes also had an extensive collection of some really interesting activities displayed inside, all done by the students. The highlight of which was an ice cream corner made by the students which had a huge graph elaborating different ice-cream flavors based upon the liking of the students, the ‘Chocolate’ flavor being the most favorite among the students. The next classroom had everything ‘Yellow’ in it. From bees to sunflowers, mangoes to corn cobs, Sponge-Bob to other Disney characters with yellow colored attires the classroom looked bright and beautiful.
The wonderful theme display was appreciated by all the guests. The highlight of the day were the food stalls and games which were enjoyed equally by the parents and the students.
Rawalpindi -A four-day inter branch badminton tournament, between the primary and secondary branches of SLS, was held at Sadeeqa’s Learning System (SLS) Montessori & High School, says a press release.
The exciting matches were hosted by SLS, Senior Section, Lalazar and SLS, Islamabad Campus. The competition was held between primary and secondary branches in which a total of 402 students competed in the singles and doubles category respectively and a total of 182 matches were played including the finals. Class V students played separately in the primary category whereas the students from class VI – X played in the secondary category.
The first three days witnessed the elimination matches and the semi-finals, and the finals were played on the fourth day where all the participants showed their brilliant badminton skills enthusiastically as the supporters cheered and applauded for their respective teams. Muhammad Ramzan Qasoori, secretary general, Islamabad Olympic Association & Associate Secretary Islamabad Sports Board was invited as the chief guest to witness the final matches and to distribute prizes among the winners.
The Islamabad Campus took the Champions Trophy in Secondary Category by scoring 34 points on the points table based on better scoring average. Senior Section, Lalazar stood second with 34 points after a tough competition with Islamabad Campus. In the Primary category Junior Section Lalazar took the Champions Trophy with +8 points and Satellite Town Primary 6th Road Branch stood second with +5 points on the points table.

All campuses of SLS Montessori and High School recently celebrated International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, says a press release.
Students of SLS, Westridge Campus celebrated this day by holding a special morning assembly, highlighting the concept and causes of poverty and solutions to eradicate it from the society.
The one hour programme started off when a group of students performed on a skit dressed up as king and queen. The stage was divided into two kingdoms to differentiate the brutal king from the kind hearted queen. The storyline was plotted to give the concept of helping the poor and needy. The audience appreciated the students for delivering an important message of being kind and helpful to the poverty stricken section of the society through their performance.
“The rich get richer and the poor get poorer”, students of grade 5 showed this bitter reality to the audience through their performance that how the needs of the poor are being neglected and how the rich are living a luxurious life. Emphasis was laid on achieving a balance in the society by elevating the poverty stricken section of the society. One by one students delivered short messages on life skills based education and the causes of poverty.
A beautiful message on importance of education and the power of knowledge to eradicate poverty was conveyed by a group of students through a song presentation which was praised and enjoyed by everyone. Through exchange of dialogues and speeches the primary students of SLS, Westridge Campus highlighted several issues giving rise to poverty to a threatening degree which included unemployment, lack of resources, overpopulation, wastage of food etc.
The highlight of the morning assembly was a skit performed by grade 5 students based on women empowerment. Through dialogues the students emphasized on the importance of education for every single woman. The same idea was stressed upon by the section head Bushra Mobin who while talking to the students said that knowledge and education is the only key through which our country can reach the heights of success and could be a better place for every citizen to live in.
